~Pendle Hill~

20th February 2010

I was invited up Pendle Hill the day after my last visit, but only a mad fool would climb the same mountain twice in two days, so I lent my mate, The Trig, a camera and he went off for a look at this fine local fell....

This is the first photo taken today and is taken from the same place as the first photo yesterday.

Lower Ogden Reservoir

Lower Ogden Reservoir

A good long ascent of Pendle Hill starts in Barley and follows Ogden Clough all the way past the two reservoirs.

Lower Ogden Reservoir

Lower Ogden Reservoir from the Upper Dam

Strange how it only snowed on one side of the clough.

Upper Ogden Reservoir

Upper Ogden Reservoir

The Trig is a good walker and he made steady progress up around the side of the two reservoirs, each partly frozen.

Looking Back

A view back down the Clough, the snow covered South bank looks better in white.

Cheery Snowman

Snow art on the Pendle plateau, the circular shelter is in view. Is this a self-portrait of my camera-shy mate, The Trig?

The Stile on Pendle Hill

Sunset or Not?

There seemed to be a good prospect of a sunset, would my friend be more fortunate than I was the day before?

Moon over Pendle Hill

The Moon

Day 6 of the lunar cycle, so one day to half-moon.

Messy Sky over Pendle Hill

Messy Sky

Well, it went pear-shaped again, this time low clouds wandered over and spoilt the party.

The Trig's Trig Photo

He packed it in at this point and headed back to the car, I'm glad I didn't miss out again, but it looked like a fine afternoon to be up on Pendle Hill. Cheers, mate. The Trig does not allow photos of himself and his true identity remains a secret.
